Athanasios Lerounis came to visit Pakistan in early 90’s when he heard about his distant cousins ” Kalasha ” in Northren Pakistan from locals. He visited the Valleys and fell in love with Kalasha people. His efforts in the protection and survival of Kalasha Cultural hertiage are countless. He built the first primary school for the Kalasha in the three Kalasha valleys .Kalasha people call him baya and regard him one of thier own.The govt of Pakistan has honored him with various awards and national award for the recognition of his work in field of education &cultural preservation. He made the first Indigenous Museum and culture center of Kalasha People named as ‘Kalashadur”
